New Yorks' Best Guitarist Contest was held at "Spit" in Levittown.
The idea came from Robert Rosenblat, the promoter for the Grammy's, who entrusted us with the responsibility of producing
and promoting the contest. He was so pleased with the result that it was used as a benchmark for many other contests held
all over the country.
The wall of 14 Marshall JCM900 100 Watt full stacks were all on
and active for the entire contest and were the most ever used on stage at one time!
It was also the first time the JCM 900's were used for a public event.

The
crowd went crazy!! Family, friends, husbands, and wives alike gathered at this event to come and cheer for
their loved ones.
The
contest started with guitar players submitting a recording of a 2 minute guitar solo. They were narrowed
down to the 10 best guitar players. All 10 got to perform their solos live, in front of tons of rock fans. Playing
the guitar solo of their life in front of a wall of guitar amps, amplified by a 20,000 watt p.a. system,
5000 people watched and cheered. The contestants were to be judged by representatives from over 10 different musical
trade companies.
